Architectural harmony on the Wine Road
A home in Bolgheri’s countryside
Travertine is a material used since ancient times: it is resistant and valuable, as well as being suitable for covering environments that come into contact with water, precisely because it’s born in this element.
For this beautiful home in the Bolgheri countryside, travertine was used extensively to cover different surfaces, both inside and outside the house.
In particular, for the exteriors, a material was sought which could dialogue with the light ocher façade and the wooden trusses that characterize and define the villa’s external verandas.
Travertine
For the covered porch and for the area near the pool, we used the Terra Chiara travertine (code PDR013), a bright selection in typical Tuscan countryside colors.
The format is “Comp 40”: a characteristic combination of several rectangular and square pieces creating an effect of randomness in size, typical of antique flooring. The measurements of the pieces in this composition are: 20×20/20×40/40×40/40×60.
For the area around the pool we used a natural material with very particular color variations, the Autunno color (code PPDR029). The background is beige with nuances and notable “mists” ranging from light beige to light brown.
The format chosen for this area is 40.6 × 61.0×1.3 cm.
The Terra Chiara travertine was also used for the interiors, especially the living room and the connecting kitchen. With respect for the large open-space environment, the “Comp 40” format was again applied; we also find same material on the kitchen floor and the connecting steps: the result is homogeneous and natural, and perfectly matched the dark wood furniture with a modern cut.
The master bathroom was also covered in stone, both for the floors and for walls with Avana Mix 10×10 Ciottolo (Tumbled) in various shades of beige that covers the main wall.
